Today, the world celebrates International Day of Failure with zeal and learning. The goal of the day is to disseminate the message that making errors and failing is normal and even necessary for a person’s growth and eventual achievement.
Did you know that Aalto University in Finland was involved in the establishment of International Day of Failure? It may seem weird, even absurd, for a country like Finland, where failure is not the norm, to have proposed a day completely dedicated to celebrating failure. We see no reason why the rest of us can’t embrace it if they can.
Fear of failure and the stigma that may result discouraged many potential Finnish entrepreneurs from venturing, prompting the notion of creating a day to celebrate failure, which they hoped would reduce the fear of taking risks and, as a result, boost the number of companies. Was it successful? Today is International Day of Failure. So we’d like to believe.
This day encourages people to do new and risky things; it motivates and inspires others to succeed by sharing stories of successful people and their failures along the road.
Don’t be afraid to fail because it’s part of growing, learning and improving!
